MPVA hosts the 70th Anniversary of

the Korean War Commemoration

 

 

To express gratitude to the UN veterans of the Korean War and promote friendship with UN Sending States in addition to the dignified transfer of the remains of Korean veterans while commemorating the 70th anniversary of the war

In particular, the ceremony features meaningful programs including the transfer of the remains of the 147 fallen heroes and 6 American heroes, award and medal presentation, and video messages from the heads of the UN Sending State

 

 

[Sejong, Korea, June 24]— The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Minister : Park Sam-duck) is hosting the “70th Anniversary Korean War Commemoration” at 8:20 p.m., Thursday, June 25 in the Seoul Air Base to express the country’s respect to those who made the sacrifice for the country and to remember their noble service and contribution with Korean people.

 

Titled “Salute to the Heroes, the ceremony is intended to deliver the country’s respects to all those who sacrificed themselves for the country during the Korean War.

 

The ceremony will comply strictly with the COVID-19 prevention measures to ensure the safety of about 300 audiences including Korean War veterans and their families and government officials and politicians.

 

Before the ceremony, the country will receive the remains of 147 Korean War heroes whose names were unknown but recently found by the US Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency and return home in 70 years with utmost care to demonstrate that the country fulfils its promise and responsibility.

 

The ceremony is emceed by Actor Choi Su-jong and Captain Chung Dong-mi of Defense Media Agency, starting with the pledge of allegiance and followed by wreath laying and incense offering, presentation of combat badge, the video messages of the heads of states, presentation of a plaque of peace, award presentation, commemorative remarks and military songs including
