Korea Runs Public Advertisement

to thank UN Veterans of the Korean War

The 70th Anniversary of the Korean War Commemoration Committee (co-chaired by Prime Minister Chung Sye-kyun and former Air Force Chief of Staff Kim Eun-gi) said it will launch a public advertisement project featuring a special video of the country’s appreciation to UN veterans’ sacrifice and contribution.

Commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Korean War, the Committee planned various events and projects at home and abroad, but the COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult to implement them.

Against this backdrop, the 70th Anniversary of the Korean War Commemoration Committee is launching the public advertisement project in order to express the country’s gratitude to UN veterans of the Korean War and let them know the country still remembers them after 70 years.

The 30-second advertisement will be broadcast in 13 billboards installed on major buildings in the US, the UK and Thailand.

In the US, three billboards will feature the advertisement in New York Time Square, while two billboards in Canary Wharf and Kensington High Street in London, UK from Monday, November 9, 2020 to Sunday, December 6, 2020. The rest eight billboards are across downtown Bangkok, Thailand which will feature the public advertisement from Thursday, November 12, 2020 to Tuesday, December 1, 2020.

Moreover, the advertisement will be provided to 103 broadcasting networks including BBC and CNN in the 22 UN Sending States via Korea’s Arirang TV Network.
