MPVA Did You Know Series

The UN Korean War Veterans Digital Archive is a proud initiative by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs to honor and preserve the memories of the UN veterans of the Korean War (1950–1953). This digital repository ensures the permanent preservation and accessibility of historical materials from those who directly experienced this pivotal conflict.

The archive includes:
  • Firsthand Interviews: Stories from veterans, prisoners of war, war correspondents, and Medal of Honor recipients recounting their wartime experiences.
  • Historical Materials: Maps, discharge certificates, personal letters, diaries, and photographs—many of which were personally created or collected by the veterans.
  • Rigorous Verification: Every item and account undergoes thorough verification and restoration to ensure accuracy and preservation.

At present, the archive holds 398 interviews with veterans and their families, capturing voices that might otherwise be lost. The collection offers a rich perspective not just for Korea but for all nations involved, serving as a testament to international solidarity and sacrifice.

While still under development, the archive plans to expand its collection with videos, documents, and additional interviews. It also aims to educate postwar generations about the historical ties between Korea and the 22 UN Sending States that supported it, strengthening global connections and emphasizing the importance of peace.
