Meritorious Service Record
From February 1943, Du Junhui served as a member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. In May 1945, she was appointed as a director of the Korean Relief Association (韓國救濟總會), and in July of the same year, she published an article in Independence (獨立) advocating for Korean independence through Sino-Korean unity and support.
Since her marriage to Kim Seong-suk (金星淑) in 1929, she had been actively engaged in fostering Sino-Korean friendship and participating in the anti-Japanese movement. On December 12, 1935, she joined Kim Seong-suk and others in issuing the Shanghai Cultural Circle's Declaration for National Salvation (上海文化界救國運動宣言). She was also a member of the Shanghai Women's National Salvation Association, actively participating in Chinese women’s anti-Japanese national salvation efforts.
In October 1942, she was a founding member of the Sino-Korean Cultural Association (韓中文化協會), established in Chongqing. On February 3, 1943, she was appointed as a member of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs by the Provisional Government’s State Council. Later, on April 2, she was promoted to a higher administrative position within the Ministry and worked in the Intelligence Division until September 28, 1943. From May 1945, she served as a director of the Korean Relief Association, presided over by An Jeong-geun (安定根).
On July 11, 1945, she published an article titled To Korean Women Overseas - Let’s Support the Revolutionaries in Independence, a newspaper distributed in the United States, emphasizing the necessity of supporting Korean independence fighters. Throughout her life, she maintained close relationships with Korean anti-Japanese independence activists and continued to promote Sino-Korean solidarity in support of Korea’s liberation movement.
The South Korean government posthumously awarded her the Order of Merit for National Foundation (National Medal) in 2016.
