Meritorious Service Record
On May 9, 1943, during a discussion session of the Sino-Korean Cultural Association (韓中文化協會), Si Tu De stated, “The Japanese invasion of East Asia began with the forced annexation of Korea in 1910. If Korea does not achieve independence after this war, then the objectives of this war will not have been fulfilled. Therefore, Korea’s independence is the key to postwar peace.”
This discussion was attended by key figures from the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea, including Kim Kyu-sik (金奎植), Jang Geon-sang (張建相), and Cho So-ang (趙素昻). Prominent Chinese participants included Hu Qiu-yuan (胡秋原) and Chen Zheng-fei (陳正飛).
In December 1943, he publicly urged the Allied nations to promptly recognize the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea. In his statement, he emphasized, “The Allied nations must swiftly recognize the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea to strengthen its leadership. The official recognition of the Korean Provisional Government by the Allied forces is what we have long hoped for.”
The South Korean government posthumously awarded him the Order of Merit for National Foundation (Independence Medal) in 1980.
