Meritorious Service Record

In 1932, after Kim Gu (金九), leader of the Korean Patriotic Corps, publicly announced the details of the heroic acts of Lee Bong-chang (李奉昌) and Yoon Bong-gil (尹奉吉), Song Meiling praised their patriotic deeds and donated 100,000 yuan to support the independence movement.
Following the outbreak of the Second Sino-Japanese War in 1937, she contributed to China’s national defense by purchasing National Salvation Bonds (救國公債). In 1940, after the formation of the Korean Liberation Army, she provided another 100,000 yuan to help purchase weapons. Again, in 1942, she donated 100,000 yuan specifically for the Korean Liberation Army Soldiers’ Family Relief Fund (出征軍人家族救濟費).
Song Meiling was the younger sister of Soong Ching-ling (宋慶齡), wife of Sun Wen (孫文), and Soong Zi-wen (宋子文), Minister of Finance of the Nationalist Government. As the wife of Chiang Kai-shek (蔣介石), she played a pivotal role in supporting Korea’s anti-Japanese independence movement.
The South Korean government awarded her the Order of Merit for National Foundation (Republic of Korea Medal) in 1966.
