Meritorious Service Record
From an early stage, Wang Zhu Yi demonstrated a deep interest in the Korean independence movement. During the Second Sino-Japanese War, he served as the Chief of the Asia Command in the Chinese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he worked to strengthen Sino-Korean relations.
In October 1942, the Sino-Korean Cultural Association (韓中文化協會) was established in Chongqing with the aim of promoting cultural exchange, unity between the two nations, and lasting peace in East Asia. Wang Zhu Yi was appointed Deputy Director of the Cooperation and Coordination Office (協力調整室) and later served as Director of the Liaison Department (連絡部長).
The association was led by Sun Ke (孫科) as Chairman, with Cho So-ang (趙素昻) and Kim Kyu-sik (金奎植) serving as Vice Chairmen. Wang Zhu Yi took on key roles such as board member and Deputy Secretary-General, actively promoting Sino-Korean solidarity and the anti-Japanese resistance movement.
The South Korean government posthumously awarded him the Order of Merit for National Foundation (Independence Medal) in 1980.
