* Chinese State Council hosts the event on September 3 in Beijing, China
* 7 independence fighters including president of Korea Liberation Association attend

Seven independence movement fighters including current president of the Korea Liberation Association Kook-joo Kim and former ones and Yoo-kil Kim, president of the Korea Liberation Army participate in the commemoration event marking the 60th anniversary of the victory of anti-Japanese war and the world’s anti-Fascism war. This event hosted by the State Council of the People’s Republic of China is scheduled to be held in Beijing on September 3.

The event’s characteristic is similar to that of the event held in Russia on May 9th to mark the 60th anniversary of Russia’s victory in the war. Head of states from several countries were invited to the Russian event, but this time the Chinese government invited “Kukje Wooin”, which means war comrades.
According to the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (MPVA) on 31, this event is hosted by the State Council and the People’s Overseas Friendship Association took the charge of invitation. The Chinese government informed MPVA of the purpose of the event in mid-August and asked to invite Korean independence fighters.

Several high-ranking officials from the Chinese government including President Hu Jintao and more than 10,000 people including 170 war comrades invited from 17 countries such as Korea and the U.S. are expected to attend this event. In particular, the seat of president Kim, one of the Korean delegates is arranged close to those of the Chinese state leaders and Woo-jeon Kim, former president of the Korea Liberation Association plans to lay wreath at monuments of people’s heroes, which paves the way for strengthening diplomacy in terms of patriots and veterans affairs at the civil level.

Korean delegates plan to emphasize that China is home to many Korean independence movement sites including the Korean Provisional Government in Shanghai when they have a chance to meet President Hu Jintao. They also plan to stress the need of accelerating diplomacy in patriots and veterans areas between China and Korea. Korean delegates left for China on August 31.

Earlier the departure, Boh-kang Seo, the China Daily correspondent in Seoul interviewed the president Kim, the head of the Korean delegates regarding participation in this event on August 29.
