Artifact Exhibition Hall

The Artifact Exhibition Hall displays the personal belongings of individuals buried at Seoul National Cemetery.
It consists of the first exhibition room on the second floor, the second exhibition room, the special exhibition room, and the third exhibition room on the first floor, the digital archive, and the video room to express the time flow from past to present.
Exhibition Room 1 on the second floor, Hall of Independence, showcases the artifacts of heroes who led the resistance movements and independence campaigns at home and abroad. A touch monitor lets visitors write tributes, and a photo zone offers a chance to take pictures with historical figures.
Historical photographs from the Liberation to the Korean War are available through the “Korean News” display, which leads into Exhibition Room 2, Hall of National Defense.
Visitors can explore the stories of national defense heroes who served during the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and other conflicts through videos and preserved artifacts.
The Special Exhibition Room features stories of unique gravesites in the cemetery, donated artifacts, and work of the Ministry of National Defense Agency for KIA Recovery & Identification.
Exhibition Room 3 on the first floor, Hall of Today, displays personal items of four former presidents and national merit honorees buried at the cemetery, including those enshrined in the Memorial Hall.
The interactive 3D map and videos present the past and present of Seoul National Cemetery.
Lastly, the first-floor Digital Archive provides photo displays of artifacts held by the museum, and Media Room screens educational videos tailored to different age groups.

Patriotic Memorial Exhibition Hall

The Patriotic Memorial Exhibition Hall presents the stories of heroes who sacrificed for the nation from the Japanese colonial era to the present, using various multimedia and modern digital technologies.
Themed “Honoring the noble patriotism of those who sacrificed to restore or protect the nation,” the hall is divided into a Memorial Room (1st floor) and an Exhibition Room (2nd floor).
The Memorial Room expresses gratitude for the patriotism of national heroes and commemorates them. It features a main video, a floor projection, a Taegeuk-symbolic design element, and the bronze portraits of 70 patriotic heroes displayed along the side walls.
The Exhibition Room is divided into three zones: “The People’s Struggle to Reclaim the Nation,” “Heroes Who Fought to Protect the Nation,” and “We Will Not Forget Your Patriotism.”
It features five story-based videos including “Retake the Hill: The Three Heroes of Baengmagoji,” and hands-on experiences such as decoding independence army ciphers, Taegeukgi puzzles, UN quizzes, and digital photo guestbooks using touch monitors.
At the center of the first-floor lobby stands the sculpture Flame of National Defense, symbolizing the burning will and patriotic spirit of the heroes buried in the cemetery.
Displayed above the sculpture is the total number of interred heroes with poems of tribute to them engraved on the surrounding walls, offering visitors a moment of solemn appreciation.
