| 'General Hong Beom-do' Memorial Park to Open in Kazakhstan this Friday | |

The Yoon Suk Yeol administration provides full support with 700 million won in national funds to create a memorial park in Kazakhstan for the independence hero General Hong Beom-do, keeping the promise made by the former administration to Kazakhstan and Koryoins (ethnic Koreans in the post-Soviet states) when the General’s remains were repatriated to Korea.
On November 3rd (Friday) at 11 a.m., a ceremony to mark the opening of the memorial park will be held in Kyzylorda, Kazakhstan, with the Vice Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Yoon Jong-jin attending to express the Yoon Administration’s willingness to honor General Hong Beom-do as an independence hero. The Hong Beom-do Memorial Park in Kazakhstan includes a praying area, an exhibition hall, and an outdoor resting space. Minister Park Min-shik stated, "Remembering the life and spirit of General Hong Beom-do and giving him the highest respect is a principle that will never change regardless of changes in administrations," and that "the Memorial Park in Kazakhstan will be managed as a landmark memorial facility symbolizing the national pride of our people as well as a nexus for Koreans in Kazakhstan." |
