The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Minister Park Min-shik) announced that “Lee Dae-yong, Major General of the Republic of Korea Army (lieutenant during the Korean War), who played a significant role in numerous battles such as the Chuncheon Battle, the Nakdong River Battle during the Korean War, and led the advance of the Korean forces' spearhead unit to Chosan near the Yalu River, has been selected as the December 2023 Korean War Hero.”
