MPVA Holds the Appreciation Dinner for Family Members of US POW/MIA

The Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs (Minister Pi Woo-jin) will host the Appreciation Dinner in Washington D.C., U.S., inviting family members of US POW and MIA who fought in the Korean War. The minister will be visiting the United States from August 8 to 13.


This is the first time that the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs is attending the event, which will be held as part of the Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency (DPAA)’s Annual Government Briefings for families of personnel missing from the Korean War. In addition, 70 US veterans who fought in the Korean War will be awarded with the Ambassador for Peace Medal in Boston. Since 1875, the Ambassador for Peace Medal has been bestowed to UN Korean War veterans and their families in appreciation for their noble sacrifice and contribution.


On August 8, the Minister of Patriots and Veterans Affairs Pi Woo-jin will visit the graves of US veterans who fought in the Korean War in Arlington National Cemetery, which include Donald D. Noehren and Walton Walker. On the next day, Minister Pi will visit the Korean War memorial located in Potomac Park, Washington D.C. On the same night, the ministry will invite 650 families of US POW/MIA to the Appreciation Dinner in order to express sincere gratitude of the Republic of Korea.
