| Korea Confers Posthumous Medal to French Politician Louis Marin for Supporting Korea’s Independence | |

• On May 7th, a ceremony at the Korean Embassy in France honored Louis Marin, who supported Korea’s independence, with the National Foundation Medal. The medal was presented to the president of the Academie des sciences D’Outre-Mer, and a plaque celebrating his selection as “Independence Activist of June 2024” was delivered to the deputy mayor of Marin's hometown, Faulx.
• Korean Veterans Minister Kang Jung-ai highlighted the importance of remembering Marin as a symbol of Franco-Korean friendship and reiterated the commitment to ongoing research and commemoration of independence movements that supported Korea, including French contributions, in light of the 80th anniversary of liberation. • The delegation also visited the Paris Commission of the Provisional Government of the Republic of Korea and the Office of Veterans and War Victims (ONaCVG) to examine advanced veteran care practices. |
