“Polish Troops Fought in the Korean War, Attached to Dutch Forces” Korean Veterans Minister Reveals New Fact During Visit to Dutch Regiment
Minister Park Min-shik expressed gratitude for the Korean War veterans' service during his visit to the Dutch Regiment Van Heutsz and paid tribute to the Korean War Memorial within the unit with Dutch veterans and students from Korea (Samil Technical High School). Dutch military officials confirmed a new fact that 100 Polish individuals were attached to the Dutch military during the Korean War, and Minister Park requested relevant documents. The delegation was also informed of the fact that the Korean War Veterans Association of the Netherlands (VOKS) provided scholarship to Samil High School since 1982. On the last day of the trip (16th), Minister Park and the delegation visited the memorial site of Korean patriot Yi Jun in The Hague, and checked the facilities of Yi Jun Memorial Hall. Minister Park emphasized the achievements of the trip in “meeting with British Prince Harry to bid to host the next Invictus Games and enhancing international exchange and cooperation on veterans affairs, as well as reviewing and planning policies related to rehabilitation facilities for Korean veterans.” |
