UN Korean War Veterans and Family Members Visit Korea on the Occasion of UN Day

The Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs said on the occasion of the 74th United Nations Day, 140 Korean War veterans and family members from 12 nations will be invited to Korea from October 21 to 26, 2019 as part of an effort to honor the noble sacrifice of the UN Korean War veterans who displayed bravery in protecting Korea during the Korean War.

 

The itinerary of the participants is as follows.

 

On October 22, 2019, the participants will visit the War Memorial of Korea and Seoul National Cemetery to pay tribute to their fallen comrades in arms.

 

On October 23, 2019, the participants will visit the Changdeokgung Palace and move to Busan.

 

On October 24, 2019, the participants will attend the commemorative ceremony and luncheon marking the 74th anniversary of the United Nations Day.

 

On October 25, 2019, the participants will visit the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) to see the divided Koreas first hand and attend the Thank You Banquet hosted by the Ministry of Patriots and Veterans Affairs in the evening. Vice Minister Lee Byoung Goo of Patriots and Veterans Affairs, ambassadors of UN sending states embassies in Korea, and United Nations Command officials will attend the banquet.
